I’ve been in Barcelona from Wednesday, the 15th of January, until Friday, the 17th of January.
On Wednesday evening I was invited to a social event run by an entrepreneur in the Amazon space. He rented out the rooftop bar of The Barcelona Edition luxury hotel. The views over Barcelona from the rooftop were magnificent and the crowd was cosmopolitan and very interesting to hang out with.
On Thursday I headed into town and had some filter coffee from Rwandan beans at Nomad Coffee Lab & Shop. It’s the sort of tiny coffee shop where coffee lovers, hipsters and the international crowd all mix together for their quick espresso or slow filter coffee fix.
After that I headed through some of the tiny streets in the Old Town and stumbled across Flax & Kale, a healthy flexitarian restaurant. I can happily say that half of the ingredients of my starter were unknown to me. My challenge to try at least one new food item per month in 2020 got sort of completed in one lunch seating!
I later went to Black Remedy for some more, excellent, coffee and dessert. A hip, stylish place that’s centrally located. I’d definitely go back for some work (plenty of power outlets on the high tables and generally a laptop-friendly feel) and good coffee.
My evening event took place in a nice looking restaurant called Farga in the posher part of town. The main meals looked good from what I could see, snacks/tapas tasted great and they’ve had my favourite non-alcoholic beer FREE DAMM.
The next day, after breakfast, I left the hotel and tried to locate another speciality coffee shop, but unfortunately couldn’t find it and ended up somewhere else. It seems they’re going by the name of Roast Club Cafe, even though the sign on the entrance seemed different as far as I can remember. It’s a really small place with great Americanos and they served delicious pretzels, too!
After that it was back to Barcelona Sants train station and a 2:40 hour train ride back to Valencia. It’s good to be back home with the family!
